The Studio
A space to explore your voice—and capture what it can do.
For singers, actors, songs, voiceovers and mastering your craft.
My recording studio in Colchester brings together voice coaching, musical preparation and recording in one personal, creative space.
Come to develop a song, record vocals or a voiceover, prepare audition material or create a podcast. We’ll agree what you want to achieve and work at a pace that gives you room to experiment, listen and refine.

From the piano to the microphone
As an Estill Master Trainer, I enjoy helping people understand how their voices work and discover choices they can use in performance.
At the piano, we can explore technical exercises, work through repertoire and connect vocal technique with musical expression. At the microphone, we can record, listen back and notice how those choices come across.
A large mirror supports that exploration. Small adjustments to the tongue, lips, jaw or posture can make noticeable differences to the sound. Together, we can develop your awareness of what you’re doing and find approaches that serve your voice and your goals.

Thoughtfully equipped for recording
The room combines acoustic treatment with adaptable curtain partitions and a Reflexion Filter around an sE Electronics condenser microphone. These work together to manage reflections and capture clear, detailed vocal recordings.
My iMac has been at the centre of countless hours of recording with clients—capturing developing performances, trying different interpretations and bringing together finished takes.
The studio also has a dedicated podcast console and microphone on an adjustable arm, supporting spoken-word recording, online conversations and video podcasts.
I handle the technical setup and explain what’s useful along the way, so you can concentrate on what you’ve come to do.

A working studio with personality
The shelves hold hundreds of musical scores. Voice anatomy and articulation posters sit alongside signed posters, hats, props and a basket of percussion instruments.
It’s a space shaped by years of teaching, performing and making things with people. There’s plenty here to spark an idea, explore a character or approach a familiar song differently.
